Live life to the fullest! Dads give the best advice, right? That’s what Ruby Syslinger’s father told her and it has framed her outlook on life.
She’s originally from Lancaster County Pennsylvania and as a teen, she and her family of six plus a cousin, spent “one whole month” driving cross country in a van to see as many states as possible. She laughs when she recalls her mom trying to point out the beauty of the Grand Canyon to a van full of teenagers who were fed up with the “long, boring trip.”
At Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, now known as Jefferson University in Philadelphia, she studied business and fashion merchandising and it was a job at Neiman Marcus right out of college that brought her to DC. She thrived in the sales environment but retail wasn’t quite her niche. She combined her love of historical homes and sales and explored real estate and fell in love.
Professionally, as a successful realtor, she’s been selling homes since the late 90’s and has seen the changing real estate markets through the years. Helping families fulfill their dreams of home ownership is what keeps her going. Personally, her true passion is baking. Cakes, pastries, tarts, you name it. Her rabbit hole is watching all of the baking shows and trying to learn new recipes and techniques. It’s more than a hobby. It’s a way to destress and tap into her happy place.
Ruby was attracted to Speicher Group because as she says, “Our values are the same.” At Speicher Group, she has discovered a team that successfully strikes a balance between professional success and achievement with personal development and happiness.
