Understanding the Different Team Structures at REAL Brokerage

Real Broker has become a popular destination for next-gen agents who want the flexibility of a cloud-based brokerage without giving up the culture and collaboration that come from strong real estate teams.

Because the brand was built online from day one, every agent at Real gains access to cutting-edge technology, pay transparency, and business models that let a team leader customize how revenue share, caps, and fees flow to their partners.

If you’re weighing a move from a franchise-based brokerage, or you simply want more support for your agents without the overhead of brick-and-mortar offices, understanding the team at Real Broker options is the first step toward deciding whether to join Real.

What Team Types Does REAL Offer?

REAL provides three primary team structures, each designed to fit different production levels, leadership goals, and commission strategies.

Agents across the company can also remain a solo agent or enroll in the standard team model that mirrors traditional splits, but the following structures are where Real’s cloud-based platform truly stands out.

Domestic Team

A Domestic Team is meant for two related real estate agents, often a married couple, domestic partners, or immediate family members.

Instead of each partner paying a full cap, the pair shares one cap to Real, which can free up your time and reduce the overall cost of doing business. Their production still earns revenue share payments, and both partners qualify for Real Broker stock incentives when they hit the Elite Agent milestones. A domestic team is ideal for new agents who lean on an experienced spouse or parent, or for seasoned duos who want to streamline bookkeeping while growing their real estate career together.

If you’re transferring a team to Real from your current brokerage, note that Real will reward the combined volume toward the single cap immediately after you join Real Broker.

ProTeam

ProTeam is Real’s flagship option for teams with at least 10 agents who need maximum flexibility in team structure, splits, and fees.

A ProTeam lets the team leader establish individual caps, team caps, or even cover the 15% split to Real on behalf of specific team members’ commissions. That freedom appeals to team leaders who want to recruit next-gen agents with lower costs, or who need a path for top producers to pay a reduced cap after hitting certain milestones.

Because every transaction still runs through the company’s title company and compliance platform, reporting remains fully auditable, and Real also gives access to automated accounting so a ProTeam leader can see where every dollar lands.

The ProTeam model is especially powerful for marketing-heavy mega teams that have outgrown the limitations of franchise-based brokerages.

Marketing Group

A Marketing Group is less formal than a ProTeam but more leveraged than working as a solo agent. It’s a cluster of agents, often content creators, niche marketers, or relocation specialists, who want to collaborate on branding while keeping their own production.

There’s no mandatory team split, yet members can still pool marketing dollars, share admin resources, and partner with agents nationwide for referral opportunities. Because Real offers company-level design templates, Real Academy training, and a social-first Real brand, a Marketing Group can scale influence quickly without the extra compliance load of a standard team agreement.

For many agents, a Marketing Group becomes a bridge between operating alone and starting a team.

How Can Agents Form, Join, or Leave a Team?

Starting a team begins with a Team Agreement submitted through the Real dashboard, outlining who pays the cap, what split flows to the leader, and how the group will handle E&O insurance.

To join Real Broker as part of an existing team, the incoming agent simply selects the team at onboarding; the system assigns the correct cap automatically. Leaving a team or switching between structures is allowed at any time, but Real requires written notice so that future transactions reflect the updated arrangement and revenue share program.

Because Real provides all contracts digitally, moving from ProTeam to Domestic Team, or back to solo status, rarely takes more than a few business days.

How Do Costs, Splits, and Fees Work in Teams at REAL?

Every agent begins with a 15% split to the brokerage, capped at either $6,000 or $12,000, depending on production history.

In a Domestic Team, both partners pay into the same cap; once that cap is met, the 15% split to Real drops to zero for the remainder of the year in real estate.

In a ProTeam, the leader decides whether members pay the full cap individually, share a reduced team cap, or pay no cap after hitting a preset threshold.

Marketing Groups operate like solo agents. Each member pays Real directly, yet they often negotiate intra-group splits that create an additional stream of income to the marketing lead.

Remember that the team split still applies even after you cap, unless the Team Agreement sets a team cap to override it.

What Are the Pros of Each Team Type?

Domestic Teams lower the financial barrier for partners who sell together and want to earn free stock in the company faster.

ProTeams let high-volume leaders scale nationwide, pay Real on preferred terms, and use flexible splits to attract new agents.

Marketing Groups give creatives room to build personal brands while borrowing group influence, all inside a cloud-based real estate brokerage that offers national support, Real Broker stock awards, and revenue share.

What Are the Cons of Each Team Type?

Domestic Teams work only for two related people, so growth means forming a new structure.

ProTeams demand meticulous bookkeeping, and team leaders assume liability for compliance and training while covering fees if they subsidize caps.

Marketing Groups provide fewer guardrails; without a clear strategy, members can drift apart and lose the synergy that justified joining.

Every structure requires both leader and member to keep production above minimums, or Real may require moving to a different model.

FAQs About Team Structures at REAL Brokerage

Can I switch between team types?

Yes. You can move from solo to Domestic Team, Marketing Group, or ProTeam, or reverse course, provided Real’s onboarding team receives the proper paperwork.

How does revenue share work on a team?

Every agent still earns revenue share from the agents they attract. Team splits do not affect the revenue share program, though covering another agent’s cap can deepen relationships that lead to more agents joining the company.

Do all team members have the same cap?

Only in a Domestic Team. ProTeam leaders can set variable caps, and Marketing Group members each pay a full cap unless their agreement states otherwise.

What paperwork is required to start or join a team?

A Team Agreement outlining splits, caps, and roles, plus individual Independent Contractor Agreements. Real provides templates inside the dashboard.

Can team leaders qualify for Elite status?

Yes. A team leader’s personal production plus their share of team members’ commissions count toward the Elite threshold. Members can qualify individually if they pay a full cap.

What happens if a team doesn’t meet production requirements?

Real may reclassify the group, adjust caps, or require the members to act as solo agents until criteria are met, protecting the integrity of the team models for everyone.
